Several years ago Tawnya Bahr found herself hosting tours of the Pyrmont Growers Market during SMH Good Food Month. Her warm personality and knowledge led to the tours taking on a life of their own. She launched Straight To The Source Tours and now runs boutique tours specifically aimed at food industry professionals and serious foodies. Tawnya began with a local agenda taking groups of chefs to Darling Mills farm on the outskirts of Sydney and a truffle hunt in the Southern Highlands (see the above image). These days the horizons have expanded and there are several trips a year to the Spencer Gulf in South Australia, The Grampians in Victoria and a host of local events.
The tours are packed with informative visits to an array of passionate growers and producers of artisan foods. Tawnya is a fun and generous host, she is genuinely passionate about sharing her connections and knowledge of some of Australia’s amazing food.
